Invigilo won the Next-Gen Integrated Safety challenge run by Portuguese energy company Galp in July 2026, selected from a field of more than 300 applicants. The challenge ran through Startup the Future, Galp's open innovation programme.

As part of the win, Invigilo presented its safety intelligence platform at Galp Safety Day, and pilot work with Galp teams is expected to follow. The challenge invited start-ups working on the next generation of integrated safety for energy operations.

One boundary worth stating plainly: this is a challenge result, not a commercial engagement, and Galp is not an Invigilo client. Pilots are where that question gets tested, and they start the way every Invigilo proof of concept does: the platform running on existing site cameras, judged on what it detects.

What this means for customers

Energy majors use open innovation challenges to filter hundreds of vendors down to the few worth piloting. Coming through a field of 300+ applicants on safety, Invigilo's home ground, is a strong external check on the platform, from an operator with offshore and industrial assets where the stakes are real.
